Cuyahoga Valley Wedding

My second wedding of the year during the Covid Pandemic found me close to home. Not only was the wedding close to our house, but I spent the day with a couple that I had first met back in college. It was a beautiful day filled with immense love and joy, all those gathered celebrating this couple.

My favorite part of the wedding day was towards the end of the night during the anniversary dance at the reception. The longest married couple, of 65 years, embraced one another on the dance floor. As other couples were sent away there they remained hand in hand, the wife’s face radiating pure joy. As I snapped my photos I caught the bride’s reaction and I must admit, I too was shedding some tears. Covid has “taken” a lot of things from us, but it has also given us some perspective. As restrictions and guidelines have rapidly been implemented, we have been forced to remember what’s most important, or should I say who’s most important.

There embodiment of 65 years of love and commitment, celebrating the start of another story, reminded us all of the honor of growing old alongside another and watching others commit to the same path.

Here’s to the next 65 years together following the path that has been laid before you.
